My name is Matt...

Hey, my name is Matt and I am a freshman at Bethany College. I came to Bethany to major in athletic training and also to play football. Notice how I have those two ordered, if you would have asked me why I was going to Bethany sometime in the summer, I would have said to play football, and would have forgotten to mention the school side of things. But after a few days of school, the coaches made it clear that school was number one. I have never had a problem with school so this was no big deal. I graduated fourth in my Russell High School class with a g.p.a. of 3.96 while playing football, basketball, and track.

So far, my experience at Bethany has been great. Football has been fun, but very time consuming, the instructors make class interesting, and working in the admissions office is not only fun, but I have also been able to meet some great people. (I am expecting a raise for that great plug)(jk). I am looking forward towards the rest of the year, and yes, that even includes exam days.

Bethany College is a great place not only for athletic training, but for sports as well. This year, the football team is having a great year and hopefully after Saturday we will be 4-0 and in first place in the KCAC. You have a good start by emailing Coach Cruce; he is an awesome coach and is always looking out for his players. The Bethany College football team isn’t as big as some other teams in our conference, so a major problem is depth. If your son loves the game of football, then he has a great opportunity to come to Bethany and continue to play the sport that he loves. The transition into college football is mentally and physically tough, but after the first week you will have more friends than you could even imagine. The next step would be to call the admissions office and set-up a visit. During the visit, you will learn about BC, take a tour of the college, and visit with Coach Cruce and as many people on campus as you can. The best way to get to know how BC really is, involves asking lots of questions and talking to many people. The reason I chose to play football at Bethany College was because of my conversations with Coach Cruce and our offensive coordinator, Coach Martin. Finally, if it’s possible, you should come to one of our remaining home games so you can fully understand Bethany College football. Thanks for asking…
