Hi, Josh again. Our football team is 3-0. This is amazing since we were predicted to lose every game. College games are so much more fun than high school games. I haven't really done anything since the last time I have talked to you guys, except for homework, play basketball, and S-L-E-E-P. I shot around for three hours the other day. My knee is paying for it. I tore my meniscus my senior year in basketball and haven't played since. I forgot my brace at home and I'm paying for it - but I'm going to go and shoot some more. Thanks for listening to me ramble. I'll talk to you guys later.

Wow, wow, wow! Things are finally getting back in the full swing of things. All the club meetings are getting underway which is definitely a huge aspect of my Bethany life and one that I feel very passionate about. However, things may be getting a little hectic around here. But hey, what’s college without a few scheduling conflicts right? So today has been really busy between running to and from classes, working, and club meetings, but I’m still super pumped. Why am I so excited? Well, my roommate called me today and let me know that the shirts about 22 of us HUGE BETHANY FOOTBALL FANS had ordered have finally arrived. I’d been so worried that they wouldn’t make it here in time for the first home game on Saturday, but now they have and we can go out and show our support for our boys in our new stylish duds. I actually designed all the t-shirts and spear-headed getting them ordered so it’ll be pretty special to see everyone wearing them at the game. One last thing I wanted to ask you all to keep me in your prayers as I travel to Wichita next weekend to take my LSAT (Law School Admission Test). This is the one test that will get me into Law School if I score high enough. Law School has been something I’ve wanted to do since the time I was four-years-old and hopefully soon I’ll actually be living that dream. The time for the test came a lot sooner than what I had hoped and I’m not nearly as prepared as I hoped to be, but it happens and with faith and hard work I will prevail. I’ll keep you updated on how I do, probably won’t get the results until mid-October or so, and which Law School I’m applying to. future of BC

To me, the greatest asset Bethany has to offer has nothing to do with facilities, classes, new parking lots, fountains or any other material thing. At Bethany, it’s all about the people. The relationships I’ve made at Bethany go above and beyond anything I ever imagined would happen to me. I live with some of my best friends in a campus house, work with amazing people in the admissions office, and have made friends with many of the professors and staff. It’s nearly impossible to walk across campus without running into someone you know (sometimes that’s a good thing and sometimes it’s bad!). But regardless, you definitely create your own “Bethany Family” while here, if you put the effort into it.

My hopes for the future of the college are that we have competent, caring faculty and staff members to continue in the Bethany traditions. It’s a small enough campus that if one does not care about the students, we will all know it. Most of the people working here now are not here for the pay or prestige, but because they care about Bethany. They bleed blue & gold. Those are the kinds of people we need to keep coming onto this campus; both employees and students. I know I am merely a student right now and do not have power to make any decisions for the college. However, we must place our trust in the people who do run this institution. My hopes for them, is that they take it into their own hands to find the best people possible for each job. It’s a personal opinion of mine that no one should ever settle for less than they deserve, and Bethany College most assuredly deserves the best. The students deserve the best professors, the professors deserve the best students, the staff members deserve the best superiors, etc. We need to do everything we can as “one body, one Bethany” to keep the loyal people we have, and bring in more who will be a great fit.

Since a college is a student based establishment, I believe it is the students who need to be heard. Their voices and opinions need to be taken into account. Students realize, like in any situation, you cannot always get things done exactly the way you want. However, without students, there is no college. Ergo, I believe the college needs to not necessarily cater to the students needs, but make sure and listen to their opinions and try to accommodate the students as best as possible, and never disregard something they have to say. Dozens of student organizations attempt to better the college for themselves and for the future classes of Bethany College. My hopes are that we let them. Caring students will voice their opinions; all you have to do is listen.

My name is Matt...

Hey, my name is Matt and I am a freshman at Bethany College. I came to Bethany to major in athletic training and also to play football. Notice how I have those two ordered, if you would have asked me why I was going to Bethany sometime in the summer, I would have said to play football, and would have forgotten to mention the school side of things. But after a few days of school, the coaches made it clear that school was number one. I have never had a problem with school so this was no big deal. I graduated fourth in my Russell High School class with a g.p.a. of 3.96 while playing football, basketball, and track.

So far, my experience at Bethany has been great. Football has been fun, but very time consuming, the instructors make class interesting, and working in the admissions office is not only fun, but I have also been able to meet some great people. (I am expecting a raise for that great plug)(jk). I am looking forward towards the rest of the year, and yes, that even includes exam days.

My name is Mariah...

Hello! My name is Mariah and this is my third year at Bethany! I am majoring in elementary education with a concentration in social studies and an endorsement in special education. I was on the cheer squad my freshman and sophomore year and served as captain. I am in MANY different organizations and activities. I help with a freshman seminar class as an ARC, am an ambassador, orientation leader, a member of habitat for humanity, in the Gold Key honor society, and some other random activities! When school isn’t keeping me busy, I like to hang out with my friends, eat ice cream, listen to music, and play guitar hero (yes I play on expert)!

I’m originally from Smith Center, Kansas, a little place with small-town morals. Therefore, I am a small town girl at heart and know how to entertain myself and make the most of things! I enjoy reading; Nicholas Sparks and Harry Potter are my all time favorites! Also, like any college student, I enjoy watching movies. Shoe shopping is also up there on my list of favorite things to do! I’m a down-to-earth girl with a bubbly personality and I love meeting new people. Hi, my name is Josh and I'm a freshmen at Bethany. I am majoring in business and accounting. I plan on playing basketball my sophomore year. I like hanging out with my friends in my free time. No one has beaten me in NCAA Football 08 yet! Third floor Warner is where it's at. Everyone always comes to hang out in our room because we have two XBox 360's. People also come to watch college football in our suite. The nickname for our suite is the "Party Suite". College life at Bethany is the best. Better check back in because I'm Josh...

My name is Sammie....

Hey everyone! My name is Samara ( Sammie), and I’m a senior Criminal Justice major here at Bethany College. Through my three years here at Bethany I’ve been a cheerleader, active and president of the Alpha Theta Chi sorority, member of Law & Order club, member and president of Theta Pi (Criminal Justice Honor Society), Gold Key, and starting this year a member of SAB (Student Activities Board). Last year I was also a Residence Assistance in Deere West Hall. All-in-all I’ve been involved in a lot of things that have brought me in contact with a lot of different people, and unfortunately I’ll be graduating in May. A little about myself outside of the classroom and clubs it that I love to watch football—especially the Swedes, I like playing with my puppy, Ollie (a West Highland terrier), spending time with my boyfriend, and watching all crime shows including Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Other than that I keep myself busy in the classroom or at my on campus job in the Admissions Office. Be sure to stop back and see where my senior year takes me!
